Regione Emilia-Romagna (RER)

The Regional Agency for Health and Social Care of Emilia-Romagna Region (RER-ASSR) operates as a technical and regulatory support for the Regional Health Service (SSR) and the Integrated system of interventions and social services. It promotes and addresses research in health services and develops research projects to experiment methods, technologies and social and organizational innovations, and it participates in the welfare policy change aimed at implementing strategies based on community and intersectional approach.  The Regional Agency is also deeply involved in international initiatives, research programs and exchange experiences with other health care systems, mainly European but also overseas. Since 2012 the RER-ASSR is also Reference Site in the framework of EIP-AHA, the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing; at present it is focused on integrated care and frailty actions. Anyway, regional focus on frailty should be understood in a wider sense, that encompasses a variety of social categories at risk of exclusion, among them refugees and migrants.

Indeed, migrants represent 12% of regional resident population (data at 1 January 2016 – source: Regione Emilia-Romagna, Popolazione straniera residente), while raw data referring to asylum seekers show dramatic increase in the last years:  according to a recent  publication of the regional social dept., in 2014 we saw an increase of 56,6 % of asylum claims with respect to the previous year, and the heavily rising trend reconfirm in 2015 with an increase of 87,7% with respect to the 2014 (data at 31st December 2015 –  source: Richiedenti e titolari di protezione internazionale e umanitaria in Emilia-Romagna. Monitoraggio 2016. Regione Emilia-Romagna).

The organization relies on experienced professionals and services devoted to communicate and disseminate regional activities. Both the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Regional Agency are part of national and international networks and can therefore count on large-scale maps of stakeholders. Press and graphic competences are also professional assets of our organization, as well as the experience gained in disseminating both national and international project outcomes. RER will post photos and information on our social media accounts and with regional and national diffusion of any relevant information.
